beautiful - the soft tones of colour, in view of fading layers and timeless structures
a side street somewhere in Lecce
Portraits of Padro Pia are everywhere! here inside the door, their beloved Saint. What a team, father and son I will guess. Weekly they drive by selling goods from their van. today they stop infront of the house as the neighbors come out to see what's new for sale and in so doing one serves them expresso. Only in such small towns this expression of welcome for a hard day's work.
A surprise turn today riding into Calimera. Exploring further to the outskirts of the town and found an amazing display of food, shoes, jewellery, scarfs. Thursday market-day. A bounty indeed. Returning with bags dangling from handlebars, with the back and front baskets full, balancing my way home again tipping this way and that.
AND SHOES OF COURSE!!

then...
stopped to readust my bags and took these landscapes of smoke. Reminding me of Jean Canard's installation in Spain, SMOKE.
many of the line drawings are influenced by the black burnt markings left coiled around the olive trees.
