Looking For The Fire

trying to find it
touch it..

inspiration .
a purpose .
my reason .
my heart.
to be in the studio zone

it's been bleak inspirational days in the studio

conflicting, pulling, a dual in opposites to being
.
 my . self
aimless these days at the palette bench.
So, leaving the studio again. A short walk for direction
 to
'just get into the work'
but still a lack of desire.

Paint brushes resting on the glass-table, it's been week(s) and still, in their last colour skins, couldn't even bother placing my twenty or so brushes in turps to clean.
This is a barometer of 'blockage'!

not sure why the cloud around me... it's just one of those short cycles I find myself in.

In the advent of Spring, just now approaching, these inner landscapes are shifting.

Some practices I found helpful:
  • Poetry: reading The Essential HAIKU - versions of BashoBuson & Issa - a bit of refuge in their love of observation, and in these names alone, have a punch and a might, to be titles of future works.
  • ink & brush & an old drawing notebook - using the remaining blank pages to just noodle aimlessly.  an'action' to mirror the empty motions in my day.
  • purchased non-firing terra-cotta clay: molded shapes & forms without thinking to much about the process, it was enough to let my hands go and move again - to classical music - a real surprise once I stepped back to view what the hands manipulated!  Wonderful figurine-shapes full of spirit.
  • walk and more walks with camera
