Claude is Here!!
A last minute decision to fly here and stay 13 days with me.
We've missed each other!
... and he comes with a car.
We have been touring the region and sampling culinary delights.  Great fun.

the drive from Castro to Porto Badisco
***
a few photos of the Alberobello village: such a visual feast! weather: a three day cold front

This is a welcome break from studio focus, taking advantage of this early October, the best time to visit these
parts.  June through to early September these places are packed.
Am so enjoying the coastal views, many from elevated fortresses over looking the Adriatic.  I realize, again, the importance of the sea for me.  My Aegean childhood stems deep, and why I chose to live on an island these fourteen years!

Puglia known for its 'frutti di Mare  fruits of the sea

The seafood selection is abundant and delicious I'm told. I don't eat fish, but can imagine the savory cuisine this area is reputed for. We had one memorable late lunch in Otranto, stumbling upon a little taverna restaurant at Cantico dei Cantici.  Claude feasts on an exquisitely prepared swordfish.  (he has the photos of this!)
The many small blue fishing boats retuning to port, and fishermen gathering on shore mending their nets, tells of the lively industry in FISH.

One of the many trips into Lecce to enjoy the evening city buzz and along the way we make a bike stop, to Alberto Guido, established since 1936.  Located in the heart of Lecce.  And not long, a new purchase!!  An Italian Ulisse Electric with12 speed. A retro city bike design, which is cool.

can't wait to ride this on the isle . so comfortable . perfect for our island hills.
a good head start with the daily biking here I want to continue biking when i return to NZ
Claude is checking this, now all boxed up, on his Rome flight today.  Miss him already.
