STONES TO ROSSO
Today a three hour bike ride, looping around neighboring towns... A perfect day for this!
soaking in all shades of red and brown earth, white rock and cool air,
making memories
late autumn flowers begin and
trucks manoeuvre a slow, windy pass with heavy bins of olives
and all along
and all along
in between stone walls the new plantings of home gardens
and so peppery and fresh, the
scent of soil
it's a new Moon, a high crescent at sunset - crisp and clear,
when a sudden appearance of the only one hawk sighting
- as it dashes an escape from magpies -
signaling the memory of the very hawk soaring my driveway three months ago as I left home that morning
I decide, a definite stop in Sternatia for a celebration glass of chilled Prosseco!
Perfect
... as all uncovers an amazing Season in Italy
