Just some great news in from the home front.  New Zealand Trade& Industries headquarters in Auckland have asked for works to be on display in their newly refurbished centre and gallery.  A great showcase opportunity for their VIPs and other visitors to NZ.  Nice to have Business supporting the Arts.

I am finishing off the second half of my second Melon, so good!  And of course an espresso. Doing a few emails before I head out and walk to Calimeri for a browse.

The other night a lovely start to our evening in the courtyard having wine with visiting artist Alexandro, the sculptor from Rome, here for two months working on a commission and Elisabeth, a photographer from Houston who has been with her husband-painter. They just finished their MIRA stay last week.  She is extending her time for six months in Lecce.   Paola eventuates with her stunningly beautiful boy Joel.  We all pile into cars and are off to meet Dino, an architect in his late 60’s who lives three towns away.  He insisted on offering us drinks and to join him,  by car, to a friend’s private book launch.  So now we are three cars full driving around in the dark looking for this place.  Dino is not sure where it is exactly, a minor detail he didn’t mention before we leave from his place.  I am in the car with Paola and son.  She is on her mobile phone talking to Dino ahead of us, trying to get clarity where we all are going... It was rather comical, at the start.  I was taking in the sweet adventure, just glad to have been with Paola and son, while the others following us following Dino. Paolo again is phoning Dino, this time in her rapid Italian, her patience is being tried!  Finally Paola turns to me and asks... ‘Where do you want to go Gabriella?'  I replied: ‘well home would be good.’ We both laughed, she said ‘me too” as Joel is now fast asleep in the back seat having given up, driving in circles for 40 minutes.  Ah, it’s Italy!!  No worries.. Kinda a familiar NZ sentiment. Arrived home and into bed.
